Romans 11:33–35
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”
“Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay them?”
Thoughts on Today’s Verse
Today’s verse is a beautiful doxology by the apostle Paul, expressing awe and wonder at the depth of God’s wisdom, knowledge, and sovereignty.
Paul marvels at the incomprehensibility of God’s judgments and the inscrutability of His ways.
The rhetorical questions highlight the uniqueness and grandeur of God’s knowledge, reminding us that no one can fathom His mind, offer Him counsel, or claim to have given to God in a way that obligates Him.
The passage concludes with a powerful affirmation that all things are from God, through God, and for God, culminating in a declaration of praise and glory to God.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, we echo the sentiments of Paul, standing in awe of the depth of your wisdom and knowledge. Your judgments are unsearchable, and your ways are beyond our understanding.
Lord, we acknowledge that no one can know your mind or offer you counsel. You are the source of all things, and everything exists for your glory.
May our hearts be filled with reverence and worship as we reflect on the majesty of your wisdom and the richness of your knowledge.
We praise you, God, for your sovereignty over all things. To you be the glory forever! Amen.
